Photograph of unidentified individuals performing at Fraserview Hall in Vancouver, British Columbia (B.C.). Individuals had gathered at Fraserview Hall for an award presentation for S. Charan Singh Safri on behalf of the Shromani Sikh Services Society of Canada.
Charan Singh Safri (April 5, 1918 - January 5, 2006), a Panjabi poet, was born in the village of Bodal in Panjab, India. Safri worked as a clerk in Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, where he met the poet Baldev Chandra Bekal, from whom he acquired the skill of writing religious songs. He also served in the Indian Army but soon joined the education department.
