Description
Photograph of garba dancers performing at a garba dance competition held by the Gujarati Society of British Columbia.

Garba is a ritualistic and devotional dance that is performed on the occasion of the Hindu festival of Navaratri, which is dedicated to the worship of the feminine energy or "shakti." It is a joyful dance, where the dancers move in fluid circular patterns and side to side while singing and clapping their hands in unison.

Founded in 1969, the Gujarati Society of British Columbia is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to fostering community spirit by connecting and supporting both youth and seniors through events and activities, such as Diwali celebrations, Navratri festivals, and bhajans.
