Photograph of Ninu Kang, Bikar Lalli, and a circle of women singing at a dinner and dance event to celebrate 30 years of the India Mahila Association, held at the Fraserview Hall in Vancouver, B.C.

Ninu Kang is currently the Executive Director of Ending Violence Association of BC, an organization that supports, trains, and advocates for anti-violence workers in almost 300 anti-violence programs across British Columbia in response to sexual and intimate partner violence, child abuse, and criminal harassment. Before taking on the role in 2020, she was a key member of MOSAIC (M.O.S.A.I.C. Multi-lingual Orientation Service Association for Immigrant Communities), which is one of Canada's largest settlement non-profit organizations that provides newcomer services to those in the Greater Vancouver area and across B.C. She served as a coordinator, the Director of Family Programs, and the Director of Communications and Development, all towards working on anti-violence, anti-racism, and gender equality programming for immigrant and refugee communities. She was extremely engaged with the community and women's rights, serving as President of the Board of Women's Research Centre, President of the Board of Battered Women's Support Services, and Co-chair of Ending Relationship Abuse Society of BC. She is one of the founding members of the Punjabi Women's Association and a founding member of the South Asian Community Coalition Against Youth Violence.

The India Mahila Association (IMA) is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization established in 1973 to support and empower women of South Asian descent in Canada. Open to women of all backgrounds, IMA focuses on advocacy, education, and community engagement while addressing issues such as gender equality, violence, and discrimination. The organization operates without external funding and has created an endowment fund with the Vancouver Foundation to sustain its mission. For over 50 years, IMA has provided support, resources, and a platform for women to connect and uplift one another.

Located on Fraser Street, Fraserview Hall has been a staple venue for various South Asian Canadian community events in Vancouver, B.C. over the past two decades.
