Further back, the edge of the town of Lake Cowichan gives way to forested hills and distant mountains. Each young woman is wearing a white gown with a corsage pinned to the right shoulder. The pageant winner, seated in the rear of the car, also has her regalia - a decorated crown, a scepter and a sash reading "Lady of the Lake". The car is decorated with paper streamers.
