A composite photograph of Atma Singh Rai with his wife Kartar Kaur. Both of the pictures were captured seperately, Atma's photo in Canada and Kartar's photo in India, both at different times in 1936. Kartar's photo was captured first with the flower pot and then Atma Singh took a carefully posed photo of himself with his hand at the same level of that of the flower pot in Kartar's photo.

Handwritten poem by Kartar Kaur expressing emotions of pain towards her love. She uses the metaphor of crossing a river on an old boat as a non-swimmer, unable to see the other shore, to describe her feelings and struggles.

Highlights from Kartar's letters compiled and copied by Atma Singh Rai. Kartar Kaur frequently wrote letters from India to her husband, Atma Singh, who lived and worked as a sawmill worker in Hillcrest, Vancouver Island in Canada. She expressed her hopes, fears, and longings in poetic verses along with occassional news. Additionally, she would write about daily events and tasks that she did or planned to do.

Postcard from Kartar Kaur addressed to her older brother, Kartar Singh and Arjan Singh regarding a job that she is planning to apply for at a government school in Mahilpur, anticipating that she clears it. It is the single surviving sample of Kartar Kaur's handwriting.
