She was awarded the Member of the Order of Canada in 1994. Sophia Leung is a former Member of Parliament for the Liberal Party; she served two terms as MP from the Vancouver Kingsway riding. She was Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Revenue, and she was made a Member of the Order of Canada.
