Based in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Ustad Irshad Khan was a child prodigy, and is considered one of the greatest living surbahar and sitar players. He is known for his melding of "gayaki-ang" (vocal) and "tantra-ang" (instrumental) styles, making him known as one of the most dynamic musicians of the world. He performs traditionals ragas, pure Indian music, folk, and new age. He comes from a background of renowned sitar players, including his father Ustad Imrat Khan and uncle Vilayat Khan.

The Norman & Annette Rothstein Theatre was named after Norman Rothstein, a successful Jewish businessman, and his life partner Annette who had a love for the cultural arts. The Theatre is part of the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver, which is located in Vancouver, B.C.
