This collection is composed of records that were digitized and/or licensed for inclusion in the (DIS)Enfranchisement - 1907-1947: The Forty Year Struggle for The Vote exhibit that was initially put on by the Sikh Heritage Museum in 2016. The exhibit was co-curated by Dr. Satwinder Kaur Bains and Sharanjit Kaur Sandhra. In 2021, a digital exhibit of the same name was developed by Arshdeep Sandhu for inclusion in the South Asian Canadian Digital Archive. The records included in this collection are from both public and private holdings, and covers the history of voter disenfranchisement in Canada, British Columbia, and Vancouver, as well as other relevant or intersecting aspects of South Asian Canadian history, such as the Komagata Maru tragedy and the Ghadar movement.
